Within the purpose of being granted the possibility of commercialising rough diamonds to the Antwerp and other international diamond markets, we hereby would like to make a brief presentation of our company.
GLASOL is one of the leading diamond trading companies on the Antwerp and international market. It is a family company. Mr Leiser GLASS, was chairman of the Diamond Exchange for many years. Upon retiring and having served the maximum years allowed, he was granted the function as Honorary President for life of that institution. Title he shared with the late Mr. Harry OPPENHEIMER. Since Mr. Leiser GLASS passed away late 2004 his son BERNARD GLASS is now chairman of the Glasol and is managing the company business. BERNARD GLASS is a member of the Diamond Board and is a very important man in the Commission of the Diamond Bourse.
GLASOL’s main target has always been the marketing of unpolished diamonds. Nevertheless, we are also successfully active in the polishing, buying and selling of polished diamonds.
vOur sources of rough diamonds have been various and substantial during the last decades. Starting as being one of the CSO’s main sight holders. Then, in 1981 the Republic of Zaire selected GLASOL as one of three companies to market their entire and various diamond productions. GLASOL was being an alternative to the CSO for the marketing of the Congolese production. This represented the marketing of 7 million carats a year from the industrial mining production – MIBA.
Since then, we have been maintaining extended buying operations within most of the countries on the African Continent.
GLASOL enjoys a sound reputation with banks.
BERNARD GLASS, Director of Glasol NV in Belgium, ended his economical studies in Londen. He became a gemological expert and an expert in polished and rough diamonds. He has been dealing these precious stones ever since.
In the 30 years of experience he was granted to be an honorable member of the board of the Diamond Bourse in Antwerp and is still fulfilling this function with spirit. He is also very active in his company, managing and dealing all over the world and keeping up the turnover of several million dollars.
With the experience of BERNARD GLASS in the 80’s Glasol lifted the MIBA production, in the 90’s a flow of goods came in from Angola, where BERNARD GLASS has lead the commercialisation of it. In 2001 Glasol became sight holder of the BHP Billiton in Canada during 3 years, there again BERNARD GLASS gave his expertise. Anyway Glasol is pioneer and leading for the rough and always trying to provide his clients with rough from the source. BERNARD GLASS together with his team achieves higher grounds by serving their clients to their wishes.
