The DIAMAID Foundation

The DIAMAID Foundation emerged from a simple fact: paradoxically, the countries richest in natural resources, notably diamonds, are exactly those where the populations face the greatest challenges. The mission of the Foundation is to participate in the healthy development of diamond-rich countries through the funding of educational and medical projects for the populations most in need.

The objective of the DIAMAID Foundation is ambitious: to associate the ultimate symbol of wealth- diamonds- with social responsibility. Through the creation of a comprehensive set of programs focused on the health and educational development of diamond-rich countries, which will be funded through the sale of DIAMAID diamonds, the Foundation will contribute to both the repatriation of diamond well back to diamond-producing countries and the sustained development of these societies.

Reflecting its mission, the Foundation will have a two-pronged complimentary activity plan: the first is with professionals of the diamond sector, and the second is with actors in the humanitarian field.

Initially, the Foundation offers professionals adherence to principles ranging from traceability and transparency in production to the point when the diamonds reach consumers. Therefore, the label DIAMAID, an incontestable identity card for each stone, will represent an ethical and credible proof, similar to gemological or technical certificates that are in effect today under the Kimberley Process.

To carryout its activities in the most effective and efficient manner, the Foundation will establish close partnerships with local and international organizations engaged in development in the health and education sectors. The Foundation will also establish collaborative relationships with the governments of and communities within diamond-rich countries in order to determine their needs with respect to health and education issues.

Hence, the DIAMAID label will constitute a guarantee of commercial integrity. All stones with the DIAMAID label are gems that financially contribute to the Foundation’s humanitarian goal.
